This blog aims at collecting documents, archives, images, pictures, sequences from movies, literary descriptions, ethnographic observations and anthropological interpretations around Brasilia, the modernist city par excellence, sprung up in the middle of the desert in the 60’s in order to be, suddenly, the capital of Brasil. It is an attempt to do with Brasilia in the 20th Century what Walter Benjamin did with Paris in the 19th Century: a summary of the urban dreams from the Century, a precipitate of modern utopias and authoritarian claims from the architect, a dramatic crystallisation of the contradictions between national developmentalism and class violence.
